The original River Cottage was a former gamekeeper's lodge in the grounds of Slape Manor, Netherbury, Dorset.
'River Cottage' is now a brand for several of Hugh Fearnley–Whittingstall's business ventures, including restaurants, cookery schools, and products such as beer and yoghurt. Since 2006, 'River Cottage HQ' has been just over the border in Devon – near Axminster.
Both locations have now featured in Fearnley–Whittingstall's television series, but the actual River Cottage – as featured in the first three series – is still in Dorset.
